Cape hockey rains 11 goals on Sussex Central

Vikings travel to Bloomsburg, Pa., shut out Panthers 3-0

The Cape Henlopen hockey teamed poured on the offense against the Lady Knights, putting up 11 goals on the undermanned Sussex Central.

Seven different Cape players spread the scoring during the contest. Erin Coverdale, Kat Judge, Sydney Ostroski and Lexie Gooch each scored twice, while Tess Bernheimer, Lindsey Voss and Marlee McGinness hit the 18-inch board with one score each.

Tiara Duffy assisted on three scores while Tess Bernheimer, Coverdale and Jordan Brown each had a helper.

Late action: Cape rolled up the Blue Route and turned left onto Route 80 last Friday "no school" morning for a Saturday showdown against Bloomsburg High School of Pennsylvania.

Cape dominated action  with a 10-1 advantage on shots and scored two first-half goals, one by Allie Yeager on an assist from Sydney Ostroski, and the other a Marlee McGinnis unassisted shot with 5:46 left in the half.

Yeager scored again early in the second half on an assist from Tess Bernheimer as the Vikings cruised to a 3-0 victory.

Cape is now 10-0-1 on the season.  Next up is an away game at Indian River at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 15, followed by a 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17 home contest against Caesar Rodney.
