Jack R. Smith, loved roller skating

Jack R. Smith, 82 of Milton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born in Atlantic City, N.J., June 26, 1931, son of the late Vivian Smith.

Mr. Smith was a roller skating enthusiast who met the love of his life, Vivian Smith, at the skating rink. Jack's love for roller skating led him to compete in speed skating and skate dancing. He enjoyed a 23-year career in maintenance with Atlantic Coast Cable, Atlantic City. Above all, Mr. Smith was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and dear friend who cherished every moment spent with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his two brothers, Pete and Wesley; and his four sisters, Honey, Betty, Dot and Barbara. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Vivian E. (Parkhurst) Smith; his six sons: Jack Jr. of Pleasantville, N.J., Joseph of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., Jeffrey of Galloway, N.J., John and his wife Marie of Egg Harbor Township, and Jerry and Jay both of Atlantic City; his sister, Virginia Kiefer of Hamilton Township, N.J.; his brother, Harry Smith and his wife Betty of Okeechobee, Fla.; his eight grandchildren and his six great-grandchildren.

All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
