Ellen W. Elliott, died Oct. 11

Ellen W. Elliott, 68, of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Wilmington, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was born March 30, 1945, daughter of the late Howard L. and Sara E. (Short) White.

Ms. Elliott was born and raised in Rehoboth Beach. She was a 1963 graduate of Rehoboth High School and went on to manage her family’s business, Rehoboth Products Company, before relocating to Wilmington. In Wilmington she spent a 20-plus year career with AstraZeneca in the operations department. In 2006, Ms. Elliott would retire and move back home to Rehoboth Beach, but she remained very active.

She worked part time at the Rehoboth-Dewey Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center. Ms. Elliott was an outgoing and kind person and considered everyone a friend. She always had an open door for anyone and was there for anything anyone needed. She was a loving sister, aunt, great-aunt, and dear friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Elliott was preceded in death by her nephew Kevin LeMaire in 2012. She is survived by her two sisters: Barbara Brittingham of Rehoboth Beach, and Kay Wheatley of Rehoboth Beach and Seaford; her four nieces: Sharon Lemaire of Millsboro, Karen Lemaire and her husband Ralph Foskey of Lewes, Emily Wheatley of Seaford and Rehoboth Beach, and Elizabeth Carter and her husband Don of Columbia, S.C.; her two nephews: Britt and Clarke Ellis, both of Columbia; her two great-nieces: Karissa and Korinne; and her four great-nephews: Kaleb, Ralph IV, Devin and Grayson; and numerous dear friends who she considered family.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 a.m. Friends may also visit at the funeral home Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will immediately follow memorial services at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.

Memorial contributions in Ms. Elliott’s name may be made to the church of your choice or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
