Conservative attack is uncalled for

October 22, 2013

The pretense of Congressman Ted Cruz and Tea Party crowd that they represent "we the people" is ludicrous.  First of all, the Tea Party in recent America is not a grassroots movement.  It is funded by billionaires such as the Koch Brothers.  Check out the DVD "The Billionaires' Tea Party - How Corporate America is Faking a Grassroots Revolution" available at www.mediaed.org.  The film actually shows Koch Brothers speaking at a Tea Party training sessions.

Also, previous writers claiming that Obamacare is "socialism" or "government takeover" are not dealing with reality.  Obamacare is a copy of Romneycare (successful program in Massachusetts for many years) which actually came out of the Heritage Foundation.

It is based on conservative Republican viewpoints and as a result not especially pleasing to the single payer leanings of the progressives or liberals.  By no means does this mean that Libertarians or Tea Party followers are the spokespeople for the Progressive or liberal Americans.

The conservative attack of Cape Gazette columnist Don Flood is uncalled for.  We are fortunate to have a local newspaper that does not just represent the corporate newsmedia point of view. Unlike Fox News,  I find Don Flood to be fair and balanced, although my political persuasion is different from his as he reported.

I find, unlike Sarah Palin and her "death panels" the Tea Party and extremist Republican views on American healthcare, food stamps, welfare and such to be not only unchristian but immoral.  This group ought to be renamed the Death Party.

Unfortunately for America, we have at least two Supreme Court justices, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas,  who attend Koch Brothers meetings even as speakers.  These two Supreme Court members were instrumental in the Citizens United ruling.

Clarence Thomas' wife actually is a leader of the Tea Party.
Americans are under siege by right wing propaganda and
misinformation and other parties do little to refute the lies.

So now we wait for another big crisis in January and February with no one voicing that big spending isn't happening and the deficit has been greatly reduced already.  It appears that America is going through one after the other crises, as written in the book "Shock Doctrine,"  a policy where society and the common good lose out in a big way.

Social Security has nothing to do with the deficit either and government is not the problem. Privatization and Reagan's voodoo economics have increased inequality, and eventually will end the middle class.
