Local homebuilder Marnie Oursler named finalist in 10th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business

Marnie Oursler, founder and president of Marnie Homes, was named a finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year category in the 10th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, employees and the companies they run, worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.

“It is an incredible honor to be recognized among such accomplished business leaders,” Oursler said. “As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field, I have strived to set myself apart successfully and ensure that each Marnie Home is tailored to the family I’m working with.”

gold, silver and bronze Stevie Award winners will be announced during a gala event at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York Friday, Nov. 8. Nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the United States and several other countries are expected to attend.

Awards being presented at the ceremony include Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Communications Campaign of the Year.

Oursler works closely with clients to ensure each custom Marnie Home is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. In 2012, after building the All American House, using more than 90 percent domestic building materials, Oursler teamed up with building materials supplier 84 Lumber to create the We Build American campaign. As a national spokesperson, she helps builders throughout the country build upon her idea of increasing domestic jobs by using more American-made products.

Finalists were chosen by more than 140 business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging. More than 90 members of the five final judging committees will determine the gold, silver and bronze Stevie Award placements from among the finalists during final judging.

Oursler is currently enrolled in the Cross Continent MBA program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and is expected to complete the program in December 2013.
