Cowboys win shootout over unarmed Eagles 17-3

The bright side to the Eagles' 17-3 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday in Philly was how well the defense played. The rest of the news is pretty much bad, including an abysmal performance by quarterback Nick Foles that was trumped by Matt Barkley, who threw three fourth-quarter interceptions.

The Dallas defense, which allowed 51 points against the Denver Broncos just two weeks ago, kept the third-ranked offense in the NFL out of the end zone.

Nick Foles completed 11 of 29 passes; DeSean Jackson had three catches for 21 yards and LeSean McCoy rushed for just 55 yards.

The Cowboys' Dez Bryant led all receivers with eight catches for 110 yards.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly commented on his team's performance, "We didn't play well.  I should say that again, we didn't play well at all offensively.  Didn't do anything to help us out.  I thought our defense did an outstanding job all day.  I think our special teams, besides the one kickoff, did a really good job on a team that was probably the most dangerous return team in the game, but offensively we couldn't get anything going."

Dallas coach Jason Garrett said on the performance of his defense, "I just thought our defense did a really, really good job playing sound defense, playing together, playing what the defensive scheme was. I think we were really, really strong up front, and we did a good job setting the edges, and then really running to the football. I thought we were physical, and the pursuit was outstanding, and I thought our tackling was outstanding."

The Eagles host the New York Giants Sunday, Oct. 27. The Cowboys play at Detroit.
