Inside/Outside opens Oct. 31 at Gallery One

Exhibit to run through Nov. 25
October 28, 2013

Gallery One announces its new show, Inside/Outside, which will be open to the public Thursday, Oct. 31. Each of the 15 gallery artists will be showing an original work inspired by this theme.

In “Laundry Room,” a pastel by Laura Hickman, the viewer will see the relationship of interior and exterior spaces as well as shadows and light. The scene is from a mobile home colony in Florida; the occupants live outside as much as inside.

Using watercolor, Lesley McCaskill created “Tin Roof.” The work depicts a scene looking through several buildings at the Lewes Historical Society Complex. The repeats of reds and rectangles and the eye movement from inside and out were the impetus for this work.

Joyce Condry’s oil painting is titled “Outside In.” In this work, her inspiration was the different lighting sources in a Washington, D.C hotel corridor.

Dale Sheldon is showing “Homemade Beer,” a fluid acrylic that shows a montage of spatial images. The view is outside a window looking deep into a layered interior overlay with reflections on the glass.

Contemplating Einstein’s Worm Hole Theory of the universe, Pat Riordan has painted an abstract called "Worm Holes." In this work, circular forms seem to move through space.

Peggy Warfield presents an abstract, “Floating,” an acrylic which gives a feeling of tranquil space. Within a square format, spheres hover above a textured surface of soft crimson and yellows into a dark green space.

The public is invited to visit Gallery One to view this show and see the other art works by gallery artists and browse the fine craft room devoted to fine art jewelry, pottery, textiles, wood, and glass.

Gallery One is always staffed by one of the artists and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at 32 Atlantic Ave. in Ocean View.
