Futcher opens maritime photo exhibit at The Buttery

October 26, 2013

June Rose Futcher, a Delaware State Arts Council Opportunity Grant winner in 2013, opened an exhibit of her recent photography Oct. 20 at The Buttery in Lewes. Futcher's work focuses primarily on maritime and nautical scenes including vessels as small as Laser sailboats shown in competition and as large as tankers lying at anchor in the mouth of Delaware Bay. Futcher is part of a family of sailors, river pilots and Naval Academy graduates, so her love for the water, vessels and the associated rigging comes naturally.

Titled "On the Waterways: Maritime Impressionism in Photographs," Futcher's exhibit will be on display at The Buttery through Monday, Dec. 2. She has large and small photographs on display, all of which are for sale.

Those who feel the same kinship with the water and maritime scenes as Futcher - who looks for impressionistic nuances such as the colors scattered over the waves by the reflected red hull of a tanker - will appreciate and enjoy a visit to the exhibit, featuring about three dozen color photographs.
