CrossFit teams from region compete in Lewes

150 athletes compete; Lewes takes team crowns
October 23, 2013

More than 150 athletes gathered at the CrossFit gym in Lewes Oct. 19 to compete for the title of the fittest at the shore. This was the latest installment of the Eastern Shore CrossFit Affiliate Challenge.

Ten CrossFit affiliates from Delaware and Maryland fielded teams and represented Lewes, Rehoboth, Georgetown, Seaford and Dover in Delaware, and Salisbury, Easton, Elkton, Kent Island and Ocean City in Maryland.

Competitors participated in four grueling workouts throughout the day (referred to as WODs in CrossFit lingo) and received points for each based on their performance. Individual champions were crowned in four divisions: Men's RX, Women's RX, Men's Scaled and Women's Scaled.

The final segment of the competition involved head-to-head team competitions with each participating affiliate fielding a team composed of their top-performing athletes from the individual WODs for both the RX and Scaled divisions. Rx and Scaled refer to prescribed moves for ultimate competitors and those using alternate but still acceptable moves.

CrossFit Lewes walked away with the team crowns for both the RX and Scaled divisions. Individual champions for the day included Mark Moore for Men's RX, CrossFit Lewes; Courtney Modecki for Women's RX, CrossFit Nation in Easton; Trace DeLeon for Men's Scaled, CrossFit Unlocked in Georgetown; and Yvette Thistle for Women's Scaled, CrossFit Kent Island.
