James A. “Jimmy” Horty III, CBC, CM&A, was recently appointed to the Rehoboth Beach Communications Committee.  The communications committee examines issues related to the communications between the City of Rehoboth Beach and its residents and property owners and was formed to ensure that property owners are kept informed of important issues that face the city.

Horty serves the office of secretary and is member of the board of directors of Commonwealth Trust Company, a Delaware independent, privately-held boutique trust company based out of Wilmington. Horty brings with him more than 20 years of experience in working with and advising high net worth individuals, families and foundations. Specializing in the area of succession planning within closely held companies, he is able to bring a global approach to the business of trust administration.

In addition to his responsibilities at Commonwealth, Hortyy is deeply involved in Wilmington and Delaware civic organizations.  He is vice chair and member of the board of directors of Sojourners’ Place.  Sojourners’ Place is a Wilmington organization committed to assisting homeless individuals on their journey to self-sufficiency through a case-managed residential program.
