Katherine A. Charles, idealist at heart

Katherine A. Charles, 64, suddenly passed away in Wilmington Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013.

An ardent debater and diligent student, Kathy was the Class of ‘67 salutatorian at Rehoboth Beach High School. She subsequently spent a decade each in Philadelphia and Boston, before moving permanently to Wilmington in 1991. Kathy’s exacting nature and love of science gave her a career that began as a bookkeeper and ended as a senior medical writer. She truly loved sharing all that she had learned with those closest to her.

Kathy will be greatly missed by her son, Casey Charles of Seattle, Wash.; her sister Cindy Kirkpatrick of Wilmington; brother Barney Kirkpatrick of Rehoboth Beach; and brother Tim Kirkpatrick of Milton. With her parting, the world loses a tireless worker, a solid citizen, and an idealist at heart.

All funeral services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
