Thanks to Fort Miles group

November 4, 2013

On behalf of the Nelson family we would like to thank the members of the Fort Miles Historical Association for their recognition of our cousin, Lloyd Nelson and at the same time, James Connor for their service in World War II.

As Medal of Honor winners, the recognition provided additional personal stories about the war effort from family and veterans that will enhance displays in the museum. The historical association has ambitious plans for the development of the museum that will be an educational showpiece as part of Cape Henlopen State Park.

A walk through the park on your way to the observation tower and the museum will be a day to be remembered. As one of Lloyd’s friends wrote to his parents, “We the men in the service of the United States will see that nothing will stand in the way of victory”. The museum is a reminder of the sacrifice that all servicemen have made and continue to make for our country.
