Design teacher Kelli Gehrke named Sussex Tech Staff Member of the Month

November 12, 2013

Sussex Technical High School named teacher Kelli Gehrke as its Staff Member of the Month for October. Gehrke came to Sussex Tech last year to teach the career-technical area of digital publishing and design. She has guided and nurtured the creativity of her students; three have won design contests this year.

Two of her students were among the top 10 students nationwide to be finalists in the 2013 No Name-Calling Poster Contest to spread awareness of the anti-bullying message sponsored by the New York Museum of Tolerance. Another DPD student was Delaware’s winner of the 2013 National School Bus Safety Contest in Division 5, Computer Aided Design.

Gehrke moved to Delaware from the Chicago suburbs 10 years ago, where she worked at Cygnet Midwest Advertising Agency. When she arrived in Delaware, she started working for Maverick Marketing in Lewes as a graphic designer and photographer. In January 2008, she began working as a graphic designer for Group J Design in Rehoboth Beach. She and her husband have two sons.
