Sussex Tech JROTC cadets support senior citizens

November 13, 2013

For the 10th consecutive year, Sussex Tech JROTC Raven Battalion supported CHEER Senior Services by participating in the nonprofit’s CHEER Student Walk in Rehoboth Beach.

The cadets once again forfeited an in-service day off from school Oct. 28 to undertake the mile walk on the Rehoboth Boardwalk. This year’s total contributions solicited by the cadets were $6,000. Since 2003, CHEER has benefited from the JROTC’s participation by $55,043.

The top money-raiser this year was freshman Cadet Robert O’Neill, who collected $1,116.51. The Raven Battalion was also presented with the CHEER Intergenerational Award for its continued support of Sussex County’s senior citizens.

After the walk, the cadets were treated to a pizza lunch, courtesy of Nicola Pizza.
