Kennel Club to host AKC show Nov. 10 in Salisbury

One thousand sixty-eight dogs of different breeds or varieties will be competing Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Mispillion Kennel Club’s 49th annual American Kennel Club show at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, Salisbury, Md.

Classes in Conformation, Obedience and Rally Obedience will narrow the competitors down to the final Conformation Best In Show and Obedience High in Trial winners. The Junior Showmanship event will show off the handling skills of young people ages 9 to 18. Fifteen American Kennel Club-approved judges from all over the United States will adjudicate in their various areas of expertise.

Kevin Usilton, director of the Kent County SPCA, will award the Best In Show engraved platter.

Judging will begin at 8:30 a.m. For information on the time of judging of individual breeds, call 302-856-2199.

There will be vendors with a variety of interesting items for dog lovers, and Mispillion Kennel Club members will be present to answer questions and be of assistance.

The Mispillion Kennel Club, founded in Milford almost 50 years ago, is a member club of The American Kennel Club, the oldest and largest dog registry in the U.S. It holds a championship point show annually in November as well as other events and classes for dogs and their owners throughout the year and monthly membership meetings. Community service includes visits to schools, libraries, the Delaware State Fair, local festivals and daycare centers.
