Wibergart Gallery to feature John Major during November

Opening reception Nov. 9 as part of Mosaic ARTwalk
November 8, 2013

The Wibergart Gallery, 20 Baltimore Ave. in Rehoboth Beach, will present John Major as its featured artist for the month of November with the opening artist's reception from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday Nov. 9, as part of the Mosaic Second Saturday Art Walk.

Major began oil painting in the 1960s. At the time, he lived in the Baltimore area and worked the second shift at Bethlehem Steel Company. This allowed him to take classes with Bob Brown, a landscape painter, in the mornings. He later studied with David Trumble.

After leaving Bethlehem Steel, Major supported himself and his family in commercial art while building his skills as a painter of fine art. By the 1970s, Major was growing as an artist and spending more time painting the lush landscapes of western Virginia.

Living in Lewes, Major still paints the Virginia countryside as well as the rolling hills of Pennsylvania. He also paints the Eastern Shore and still life and florals.

Visitors are invited to check out all the galleries at 20 Baltimore Ave.
