QRCF selects beneficiaries for Dec. 7 Caribbean Christmas fundraiser

A sold-out event is certain
November 12, 2013

The Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation announced the 9th annual Caribbean Christmas will be held from 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Mango's on Garfield Parkway and the boardwalk in downtown Bethany Beach.

This traditionally sold-out fundraising event features tastings from favorite area restaurants, beer, wine, and Mangoritas live music, silent auctions, raffles, dancing, and lots of holiday cheer.

Proceeds from Caribbean Christmas benefit local organizations each year. In the QRCF’s 12 year history, more than $500,000 has been contributed to other charities. This year, QRCF has selected Delaware Hospice and Sussex County Habitat for Humanity.

“The Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation has had a remarkable impact on its surrounding community, and it is a great honor for Delaware Hospice to have been chosen as a beneficiary of this year’s Caribbean Christmas. As the only not-for-profit hospice in Delaware, Delaware Hospice depends on community support such as this. The foundation’s gift will help us continue to offer our trademark high-quality care as well as our unique community outreach programs," said Claire Walsh, director of Home Care Services, Delaware Hospice.

“We feel fortunate that Sussex County Habitat for Humanity has been chosen as a recipient this year because having the extra monies donated to us that were not planned in our budget will allow us to do even more to provide simple, decent, affordable housing for low-income residents of Sussex County who are dreaming about the possibility of home ownership. The extra monies will help make that dream come true,” said Tom Protack, community engagement director at Sussex County Habitat for Humanity.

Tickets are $60 per person. QRCF is a 501c organization and the purchase may be tax-deductible. Tickets may be purchased at Beach Liquors - Bethany, Beach Liquors - Fenwick, Bethany Beach Books, Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, Cottage Café, DiFebo’s, Mango’s, and Sedona.

QRCF is currently seeking sponsors, donors, and volunteers. Event sponsorships are available at a variety of levels with maximum benefit to businesses. Donations of goods or services are also welcome. Sponsoring and donating are great ways to build a business’s exposure and support the laudable beneficiaries. Organizers invite individuals and groups to volunteer before, during and after the event, and will accommodate any interest and ability.
