Epworth United Methodist Church will hold its Fifth Annual Cookie Walk from 9 a.m. until “all gone” Saturday, Dec. 7.
“Tables and tables of delicious homemade cookies will be available for you to select your favorites. We will have prepackaged cookie assortments wrapped with Christmas spirit as well as gift baskets of Fair Exchange coffee and chocolate. Selected cookies will be sold $7 per pound. Prepackaged assortments and gift baskets will be priced individually," says Sue Sprague, event chairman.
The “Heavenly Creations Cookie Cookbook," a collection of more than 120 divine recipes from the kitchens of the Epworth family as tasted at previous Cookie Walks, will be on sale. Proceeds from the cookbook and the Cookie Walk sales will be used to further the ministries of the Caring Pathway, whose mission is to provide care for members and the community through a variety of outreach services.
Last year’s proceeds are being used for the upkeep on the new Epworth bus, which now offers transportation for Sunday worship to Brandywine Senior Living and in the future will add other care facilities and Epworth members who otherwise are home bound. In past years, monies have been used for the purchase of DVD players for the Epworth shut-ins, enabling them to watch the Sunday morning service each week; to support the Epworth Sunday Soup Kitchen; to contribute toward the new handicapped-accessible doors at the church; to provide scholarships to the West Rehoboth Youth Program and to support the Transitional Housing Program.
Epworth’s youth group, EPIC, Epworth Peace in the Community, will be available as shopping assistants or an extra set of hands. “Our Cookie Walk has become such a popular annual Christmas event for the beach community, so come early!” Sprague says.
