Clear Space to offer three free performances by theater students

November 14, 2013

Clear Space Theatre Company Arts Institute of Rehoboth Beach will offer three free performances from fall classes.

The first performance is at 6:45 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17, with “3-Ps: Process, Performance, Participation.” The evening is presented by the Clear Space Acting Group (adult performers who comprise the Clear Space Acting Company and others who have performed in shows), using a mixture of monologues, exercises and some audience participation to highlight acting techniques that were explored during the 10-week session such mask work, improvisation, and Shakespearean language. This performance is about learning the craft of acting through the adult acting class. Wine, beverages, and snacks will be served.

Meet some of the younger performers from the Broadway Bound, Gotta Dance, and Children’s Acting Technique classes as they deliver song and dance at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19. Instructors Christa Pardocchi, Melanie Bradley, and Kevin Smith have been working hard on numbers like “Hair” from the musical of the same title and “Heart” from “Damn Yankees,” alongside several dance pieces and monologues.

The Legends of Broadway students, ages 50-plus, invite the public to attend their free concert production of "Chicago" at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20. Taught by the team of Clear Space Artistic Director Doug Yetter and Company Manager David Button, this challenging show is a staged reading/sing-through of the original. All of the songs and memorable characters are intact with some choreography and scenes taken directly from the original Broadway script.

No tickets or reservations required. Free on-street parking on the ocean block of Baltimore Avenue. For more information go to www.clearspacetheatre.org.
