Downtown's Cookin' comes to Rehoboth Dec. 8

Rehoboth Beach Main Street invites all to kick off the holiday season at Downtown’s Cookin’ Community Unity Celebration from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Rehoboth Convention Center. This annual family event offers plenty of food, fun and entertainment for all ages. Mingle with neighbors and feast on local chefs/restaurants’ favorite dishes and desserts while enjoying live musical performances, crafts galore and even a visit from Santa!

In addition to food and entertainment, Rehoboth’s 2013 Citizen of the Year Paul Kuhns will be honored. Tickets are $15/adults, $10/seniors 65 years and older, and $5/kids (free age 5 and under)  Guests are also encouraged to donate a non-perishable food item for a person or pet.

Guests will be entertained all night with fun activities including a visit with Santa from 5 to 6 p.m.  Rehoboth Inspired Chefs Initiative Pros & Joes competition, jewelry designer Heidi Lowe and Colleen Lowe’s Cape Henlopen High School Honor Society interactive art project, decorating gingerbread cookies with Joyce from The Bake Shoppe, and face-painting.  Visitors will enjoy music by Tim Laushey Trio, Cape Henlopen High School's Cape Chorale directed by Louise Foster and Magic by Charlie.

The 2013 Downtown’s Cookin’ presenting sponsor is Grotto Pizza. Locals will especially savor “Downtown’s Cookin’ Holiday Recipe Book” inserted in the Cape Gazette in December. This edition will feature a special selection of recipes to honor owner and chef Leo Medisch of The Back Porch Café, who passed away this year.
