ATI clinical director attends Parkinson's Wellness and Recovery training

November 26, 2013

Philip Allen, PT, DPT, attended the Parkinson’s Wellness and Recovery clinical training the weekend of Oct. 26. The clinical training class for PWR was sponsored by Parkinson Education and Support Group of Sussex County, part of the Delmarva Parkinson's Alliance. The PWR program is a neurological physical therapy practice gaining popularity in the Parkinson's community since its inception in 2009.

The Delmarva Parkinson's Alliance was established to serve the Parkinson's support groups in Delaware and the Eastern Shore portions of the states of Maryland and Virginia. One of its primary visions, along with the Parkinson Education and Support Group of Sussex County, is getting physical, speech, and occupational therapists at area medical centers or in private practice, and exercise leaders trained in Parkinson-specific therapy and exercise techniques. Recent studies have shown that exercise can slow down the progression of Parkinson's.

Allen is the clinical director for ATI Physical Therapy in Rehoboth Beach and will be offering PWR at the clinic on Route 1 in Rehoboth. Contact Allen at 302-226-2230 for more information on treatment programs for Parkinson’s disease.
