"Great Blue Heron with Prize" by April Allyson Abel won second prize in the Wildlife category in the Delaware Beach Life 2013 Photography Contest.

An exhibit of the winning photographs for year seven of Delaware Beach Life magazine’s annual contest opens Sunday, Dec. 1 and runs through February 2014 at the Rehoboth Beach Museum, 511 Rehoboth Ave.

The 12 award-winning photographers represent all three counties of Delaware. Their images captured the many forms of life in coastal Delaware. Judges referred to the contestants’ photographs as creations of visual impact. “This year, there were more than 300 entries, and it was by far the hardest and most challenging of our seven years," said Terry Plowman, Delaware Beach Life editor and publisher.

The museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Thursday and Friday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Admission is by donation. At this time the museum is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. In January 2014, the museum will also be closed on Thursdays until May 2014. Parking is available, and the museum is handicapped accessible.
