Mariner field hockey completes a stellar season

The Mariner Middle School field hockey team ended the 2013 season 7-3-1, scoring a total of 32 goals for the season. This team's average years of hockey experience is actually just 1.5 years per player. Many of these girls are already star athletes on the softball field, basketball court, track, and soccer fields. Many competed in these other sports in their off season.
The team was led by captains Raegan Jackson, Cassidy Best, and Kaisey Reed. Lead scorers were seventh-grader Vienna Iacona and eighth-grader Lakendra Harpe, both with 8. Leading in assists were seventh grader Amanda Sponaugle, and eighth-graders Raegan Jackson and Cassidy Best. Stepping in as a first-year goalie was eighth-grader Kaisey Reed.
