Thank you to our compassionate community

December 5, 2013

VegRehoboth's first ever all-vegan Thanks-Living Dinner was a wonderful success, and we are so grateful to everyone who contributed to and took part in this uplifting event.

We are so fortunate to have here in Rehoboth Beach chefs who are not only amazingly talented, but truly generous. Gretchen Hanson of Hobo's, Hari Cameron of a(MUSE.), Jay Caputo of Cabo, and Leo Cabrera and Dru Tevis of Modern Mixture each made fabulous vegan food to feed the 80 eager attendees. We extend to them our deepest gratitude.

Even before the evening ended, praise and compliments came pouring in:

"Everything was absolutely scrumptious!" - Martha Redmond

"It exceeded my expectations. I knew it was going to be nice, but it exceeded my expectations by FAR! It was so elegant! very classy!" - Stephanie Allman

"Truly excellent.. the food and the way it was prepared. We will definitely be here next year...and we will definitely be visiting the restaurants that prepared our meal today." - Alan Wittenberg

VegRehoboth also extends special thanks to our other sponsors Alyssa Titus of Azura Clothing Company, Keith Irwin of Old World Breads/Root Gourmet, and Outlet Liquors.

We thank the local businesses and other organizations who contributed to our raffle: CakeBreak, Dimitra Yoga, Lilypad Children's Boutique, Kitschy Stitch, Mercy For Animals, Tiffany Caldwell Photography, Rehoboth Beach Farmers' Market, and Starbucks.

And we are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community at large - friends who came to pitch in and help wherever needed, and the many people who attended - some from as far away as Ocean City, Md. - to take part in this celebration based on kindness and compassion for all. We thank each of you.

VegRehoboth's Thanks-Living Dinner demonstrates that we can choose to update traditions, to replace them with new ones that are based on our values. And that we can do this and still savor and enjoy all our favorite tastes and flavors. Vegetarian eating has never been easier or more delicious. Each time we choose a meat-free meal, we are truly helping to make the world better.

Thank you again to everyone who participated - we look forward to next year.
