Local Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians celebrates first year

December 4, 2013

The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 1 Sussex County Chapter (Celtic Cross) was installed Nov. 17, 2012. This year, on Nov. 23, members and their guests enjoyed a wonderful tea party filled with fellowship, and soup, savories and sweets prepared by Chef Phil Lambert of Kings Creek Country Club. Lambert was born and raised in Wexford, Ireland, and enjoyed sharing his culinary imagination with the Irish Catholic women’s group. Another treat was the donation to the chapter of a personal collection of china teacups and saucers to use for many years to come to celebrate anniversaries and host fundraising tea parties. As part of the anniversary celebration, the members donated infant clothing and three car seats to the Sussex County Pregnancy Center in Georgetown.

Shown with the donations to Sussex County Pregnancy Center are in back (l-r) Peggy Deskis, Bernie Polinski, Teri Birely, Celia Ludwig, Chapter President Denise Boswell, Barbara Frankenberry, Doris Delaney, Claire Cavanaugh and Grace Gannon. In front are Maureen Beaudin, Karen Sharkey, Maryann Vines, Noreen Buzerak, Virginia Pocock, Judy Doyle, Mary Cappelli, and Josie Cilea.
