Seaside Jewish Community to present 'The Future of God' Dec. 22

December 8, 2013

Seaside Jewish Community will present a showing of “Live from New York’s 92nd Street Y: The Future of God; The Merging of Science and Religion,” at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 22, at SJC, 18970 Holland Glade Road Rehoboth Beach. A discussion of the DVD will follow.

The “Live from NY’s 92nd Street Y” series of programs provide DVDs of renowned individuals engaged in compelling and thought-provoking discussion on issues and events that affect people's lives today.

The moderator of this DVD program is Dr. Reza Aslan, professor of creative writing, University of California, Riverside, whose most recent book is “Zealot, the Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth.”

Panel members include Andrew Zolli, coauthor of a new book, “Resilience: The Science of Why Things Bounce Back,” and David Ragleman, a neuroscientist and writer at the Baylor College of Medicine and director of the Laboratory for Perception and Action and the Initiative on Neuroscience and Law.

The program ponders the questions: Must science and religion be opposing and irreconcilable forces? Can science and religion be seen as complementary ways of understanding our world? How does this discussion impact thoughts of religion or how humans perceive God?

The program is open to the community at no charge, but reservations are requested; call 302-226-8977.
