The Jefferson School helps Stuff the Bus food drive

December 14, 2013

Students from The Jefferson School in Georgetown helped Stuff the Bus, contributing to DART First State’s 16th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. The Jefferson School donated 1,169 pounds of nonperishable food that will be distributed to Delaware residents in need.

A friendly competition was held at the school to see which class could collect the heaviest amount of food. That competition was worked into math and science classes, allowing students to learn and practice weights and measures. The winning class collected 249 pounds of food out of the 1,169 the school donated.

Shown among shopping carts packed with food items is fifth-grade student Race Caruso.

The Jefferson School, a nonsectarian, independent day school, is located on 43 wooded acres in Georgetown and strives to provide innovative, academic programs that foster an enthusiasm for learning.
