Albert Page Croll Jr., successful contractor

Albert Page Croll Jr., 88, of Georgetown, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013.

Page graduated from Georgetown High School in 1943 and promptly enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served throughout Europe during World War II as a staff sergeant (Cannon Company, 328th Infantry), earning the Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He continued his military service for several years as a member of the Delaware National Guard.

After his discharge, Page attended the University of Delaware. He left college to work in the family business of A. P. Croll and Son, the second generation of a business that started in 1921. He continued working in his contracting business until his death.

Page was an original member of the Indian River Yacht Club and spent many years with a variety of boats, enjoying waterfront living in Riverdale. He was also an original member of Sussex Pines Country Club, particularly enjoying golf, where he remained active.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Claire and is survived by children Christine Lecates (Bill), Carolyn Kelly (Dave), and Gus Croll (Mandy); eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A service with military honors will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
