New system to allow internet reservations for some areas at Delaware State Parks

Goes online Feb. 3
December 18, 2013

An important change is taking place for pavilion and picnic reservations at Delaware State Parks through the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. Parks visitors can now make reservations for pavilion or picnic areas via the internet. The change will go into effect beginning at 8 a.m., Monday, Feb. 3. Previously, customers had to go to the parks to make a reservation for pavilion and picnic areas.

In order to facilitate the change, sales outlets have been enhanced to enable online reservations of pavilions and picnic areas at destateparks.com, toll-free sales through the State Parks Call Center at 1-877-987-2757,  and in-person reservations at state park offices.

The new reservation system will also allow parks users to make reservations of pavilion and picnic areas a year ahead of time. In the past, customers lined up at the park offices on the first business day of the year to reserve their preferred date and location. With the new online reservation system, this will no longer be necessary.

“These enhancements to the DNREC Division of Parks and Recreation’s reservation system are major improvements intended to increase convenience and improve the quality of service to Delaware State Parks customers,” said Mary Voshell, business services manager for Delaware State Parks.

For 2014, pavilion reservations are being delayed by one month to complete work on the new internet reservation system.
