Lewes foundation supports Delaware USO

December 29, 2013

The Support Our Soldiers Foundation, a Lewes-based organization, recently presented the USO Delaware with a $10,000 check at a ceremony at the Dover AFB Air Mobility Command Museum.

The Support Our Soldiers Foundation, a 501c3 charitable organization, was cofounded by Lewes resident Steve Hyle, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, and Gerard Ferro, president and CEO of Free For All Inc. SOSF is run solely by volunteers. Its mission is to provide supplemental funding to charitable military organizations throughout the country that have an established record of helping military members and their families, as well as individual veterans in need.

The concept grew out of a unique relationship between SOSF and FFA, a New Jersey-based Inc. Magazine recognized company. When Ferro, Free For All CEO, learned of the foundation’s mission, he found a way to help. Ferro implemented the idea of forming a partnership between FFA and the foundation. FFA provides a free to everyone prescription discount card, the RxCut Plus card.

Under the terms of the agreement, every time an individual anywhere in the country uses the discount card and realizes a savings on their prescription, Free For All donates 50 cents to the Support Our Soldiers Foundation. Because SOSF is entirely self-funded and all volunteer, 100 percent of its proceeds go directly to help the military. And, although it is a relatively new organization, it has already donated more than $60,000 to assist those in uniform who have served this country.
