Charles Romeo Tumini, man of strong faith

Charles Romeo Tumini, 87, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was born April 18, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Charles and Lena (Iadarola) Tumini.

Mr. Tumini attended Furnace and Bok Vocational School and shortly after enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He honorably served his country during World War II as a B-29 tail gunner. Following his service, Mr. Tumini worked many years as a commercial artist, working for numerous companies, including Chromart, Screen Art, and M & M Displays, all based in Philadelphia.

He was a man of strong faith and was an active parishioner of St. Edmond's Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach and St. Jude the Apostle Church in Lewes. He was active in numerous organizations including the Cape Henlopen Senior Center, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and the Elks Lodge. In his free time, Mr. Tumini enjoyed dedicating countless volunteer hours to the Salvation Army, ballroom dancing and line dancing.

In addition to his art work, Mr. Tumini also enjoyed music; he was a member of the Three Hits and A Miss Band and loved to entertain with his accordion. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend to many, Mr. Tumini’s outgoing personality and accordion tunes will be missed and cherished by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tumini was preceded in death by two children, Charles and Michael. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Theresa (Sette) Tumini; his son, Mark Tumini and his wife Denise of Mullica Hill, N.Y.; his two daughters, Linda McCloskey and her husband John of Woodstock, Ga. and Lisa Tumini Halpin of Drexel Hill, Pa.; his son-in-law, James Halpin of Drexel Hill; and six grandchildren: Darien, Erica, Ryan, Daniel, Madison, and Makenzie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m., at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Friends may visit at the church prior to mass beginning at 10 a.m., where Knights of Columbus Prayers will begin at 10:50 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Edmond's Catholic Church, at the above mentioned address.
