Cape JROTC cadets ringing bell for Salvation Army

At Rehoboth Beach Walmart
December 20, 2013

For three days each week until Christmas, Cape Henlopen Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps cadets are braving the cold to assist the Salvation Army with its Holiday Red Kettle fundraising campaign at the Rehoboth Beach Walmart. Red Kettle volunteers ring the bell for donations to assist needy residents of the local area.

The fundraising campaign entails the efforts of 12 cadets under the leadership of Cadet Staff Sgt. Josh Steiner. Steiner led the Cape Henlopen effort last year that raised more than $3,000 during a similar three-week span and Steiner’s goal is to exceed that amount this year. In the spirit of the season, Steiner gave his hat to a young child who was exiting Walmart.
