What happened to traditional holidays?

December 27, 2013

I was dismayed to read the headline "Holiday tree now on display in Canalfront Park".

What other "holiday" are we celebrating if not Christmas? If this is merely a "holiday tree," let's have one for Presidents Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and perhaps even Labor Day, for are these not designated holidays?

I object to the term 'Holiday Tree" not on the religious aspects, but on behalf of the Spirit of Christmas, goodwill toward men, and on behalf of our traditional values that seem to be slowly, but inexorably slipping away.
