Thoughts From the Sidelines

Short and sweet!

December 27, 2013

I was amazed at how last week's Philadelphia Eagles' game against the Chicago Bears played out in the end. Chicago had tons more to play for with the fact that if the Bears had won that game they would have won the division. The Eagles played their most complete game of the season, crushing the Bears 54-11! The game was over for all practical purposes at halftime when the score was already 28-3. Unfortunately for the Eagles, their great performance didn't count for much because the Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Redskins in a close game earlier in the day. So this upcoming game against Dallas Dec. 29 on Sunday Night Football is a "winner take all" game for the NFC East. If the Eagles can bring it again this week along with the added help that there is a strong possibility that the Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo will not be able to play, a win is more likely. Romo has a herniated disc in his back and I can't imagine his being able to get a physician's release this soon. If this game does play out this way, the Eagles will need to play a whole lot better than they did against Minnesota and their backup players that kicked our butts. There's no guarantee here, folks, but let's hope for the best!

Most of the college football bowl games have not been played yet. They start in earnest this weekend. Even for a sports fanatic like myself, there are way too many games—35 to be exact. I will start paying attention when New Year's Day comes around.

Happy Holidays to everyone. Go, Eagles!
