Laurel would love to have chicken plant

January 3, 2014

As one who was born and raised in Laurel and now resides in Millsboro, it is my opinion everyone ought to recognize the heroic effort made by state Rep. Tim Dukes, who represents Laurel. Laurel needs the jobs to be generated by this plant dearly. With existing chicken plants in Millsboro, Harbeson, Georgetown and Selbyville - Millsboro does not.

Building a chicken plant in close proximity to already polluted bodies of water on a Brownfields site presents unique challenges that will surely cost the taxpayer lots of money. Building a plant in the Laurel area - say along Route 13 - will not present these challenges and should not cost the taxpayer a dime. Let's give Tim and Laurel a chance to speak out. Bravo Tim! We still get 700 jobs and $100 million Harim investment with no fuss and no muss and an economic pick up for the Laurel area.
