In response to Mr. Jeff Dailey’s Dec. 20 letter, we were offered the opportunity to install solar panels that are rented for 20 years and promote green energy. We went to the media because the Town of Milton, mayor, council and town solicitor refused to address the property tax issue. Emails were sent to them and were totally ignored.
Switching to solar is not a home improvement - have you seen these things? It’s the equivalent of switching from propane to natural gas, like some neighborhoods in Milton have already done. It’s simply a change in supplier where the energy is locally generated. It should also be noted that The Town of Milton is the only jurisdiction in the state that taxes solar energy. Surrounding states - Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania - prohibit these taxes by law.
Did I or anyone else in Milton write letters to the paper or complain to council when the town approved spending $10,000 to change signs in your neighborhood? No! So why do you, Mr. Dailey, feel the need to butt into other people’s business that doesn’t affect you? You’ve been speaking out about town issues for the last six years. If you want to make a change in this town, why don’t you run for council and do some work that actually matters?
We’re tired of your constant whining and doing nothing to advance the town. Try volunteering. All you do is sit by a computer and write scathing and nonsensical letters to the editor about nothing of which you know. Put up or shut up.
