Sussex Academy students raise money for Heifer International

January 12, 2014

Sixth-grade students at Sussex Academy in Georgetown held a fundraising campaign to purchase a llama from Heifer International, a charity that provides farm animals to impoverished people around the world. The students raised $661. Since they exceeded their goal of $150 for one llama, students voted to purchase a Knitter’s Basket that included two llamas, an alpaca, a sheep and an angora rabbit.

Some of the students with the llama donation chart and ceremonial donation check are (l-r) Kaylin Hatfield of Millsboro, Marissa Hawtoff of Harbeson, Abbey Hearn of Lewes, Allison Dayton of Seaford and Kara Shallis of Milton.
