Cape leaps into new year, beats Sussex Central 70-41
The Cape basketball team can battle with the best of them while taking care of the rest of them. That is the mission for the defending 2013 Henlopen Conference champions: to stay in the hunt and get a chance to defend their title, make it into the state tournament and try to make some noise.
Cape led visiting Central 31-20 at halftime Jan. 8 as cyberspace was vibrating with news of a Jon Warren from Tyreik Burton "lob and k-bob" dunk that was just "pretty sick."
Cape kept cruising in the second half for the 70-41 must-win coming back from winter break.
The Vikings were paced by the big three of Warren and Burton with 19 each and Toney Floyd with 17.
Sussex Central was led by Amontay Clanton and Wanya Hanzer with 11. Tarez White scored 10.
Cape (5-3) plays at Caesar Rodney (6-1) Friday, Jan. 10.
