Mary D. Hensley, retired social worker

Mary D. Hensley, 64, of Harbeson, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014.

Mrs. Hensley was born Jan. 16, 1948, to the late Ezra and Phyllis Fretwell Workman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hensley in 1995; and a son, Kedrick, in 1967.

She worked for the State of Delaware as a social worker before having to retire due to illness. Mary was an outgoing person, loved animals, especially dogs, and was a people person. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and was an Elvis fan. She was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by three children, Donald Lake of Smyrna, Janet Reed and her husband Gary of Seafor and Deborah Corkran of Harbeson; three sisters, Debbie Grammer and husband Raymond, Casandra Mick and Lisa Hall and husband Tom; a brother, Ezra Workman and wife Dreama; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by extended family members and friends.

Services and burial will be private.
