January 14, 2014

Sara Ann Garrison, a local country singer/songwriter and a freshman at Cape Henlopen High School, is in the top five for the Nashville Universe Shooting Star of the Year Award. Garrison was nominated in fall 2013 with 20 other talented hopefuls from around the country. Round one of the voting came to a close at midnight central time Jan. 7 leaving Garrison still vying for the award.

Round two of the voting began Jan. 8 and runs through Jan. 31. The awards show is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 17, in Nashville, Tenn. The young artist has performed locally at her church as well as the Rehoboth Ale House restaurant, Turquoise Mediterranean restaurant, Sport Zone restaurant, 2 Dips Ice Cream and The Rusty Rudder. She has also donated her talents by performing for Habitat for Humanity events, Boardwalk Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness and personal benefits when called upon.

Garrison keeps busy with her solo career, being half of a musical duo, Maybe Abilene, and putting together an up-and-coming teen band. She says, “Music is my life,” and that is clearly evident from her musical accomplishments.
