Order of the Purple Heart supports Home of the Brave II for women veterans

Transitional housing facility for female vets to open soon
February 2, 2014

The Home of the Brave in Milford will soon open a transitional housing facility for female veterans of all military services in Delaware. This facility, Home of the Brave II, will be in addition to the transitional housing facility for men, which has been open 22 years.

The Delaware Department of the Military Order of the Purple Heart has adopted the shelter study hall which will be used by the female veterans and their children. The MOPH room donation will fund computers, desks and artwork for the study hall. Jessica Finan, Home of the Brave executive director, plans to have HOBII open in early February 2014.

More information about the Home of the Brave can be found at www.homeofthebravefdn.org or by calling 302- 424-1681.

MOPH is unique among veteran service organizations in that all its members were wounded in combat. For this sacrifice, they were awarded the Purple Heart Medal. With grants from the MOPH Service Foundation, the MOPH and its Ladies Auxiliary promote patriotism, fraternalism, and the preservation of America's military history.

Most importantly, they provide comfort and assistance to all veterans and their families, especially those requiring claims assistance with the Veterans Administration, those who are homeless, and those who need employment assistance. MOPH volunteers provide assistance to veterans at VA hospitals and clinics, and state veterans' homes.
