Let the people decide on gas tax

February 6, 2014

With a statewide election coming up this fall it might be possible to hold a statewide referendum on whether to support the governor's proposed 10 cents a gallon tax increase on a county-by-county basis. Let's say New Castle residents vote for an increase and Sussex doesn't.

Then New Castle gets the benefit of additional tax revenues to improve their road systems and Sussex doesn't get a dime. I say, let the people decide - it's a win-win solution. Who knows, maybe Sussex will vote for it?
