February 11, 2014

Widener University and Sussex Technical School District announce that applications for Widener’s doctorate degree program in K-12 Educational Leadership are now being accepted for the fall 2014 cohort. Widener University began offering its K-12 EdD Leadership program on the Georgetown campus of Sussex Tech beginning in September 2013. Students interested in joining the next cohort will begin their studies in September 2014.

Widener's K-12 Educational Leadership program offers professionals an opportunity to reach the highest levels of leadership in the public education system. This program offers the opportunity for professionals to earn a terminal degree needed to advance to the top of their profession.

At Widener, K-12 Educational Leadership doctoral candidates develop leadership skills grounded in scholarship, educational research, and best practices. The program is guided by its conceptual framework, which emphasizes academic excellence, collaboration, diversity, and lifelong learning with a commitment to technology and best practices.

The program consists of 78 credit hours. However, students have the opportunity for a transcript review in order to have up to 24 credit hours of previous coursework waived from this requirement. All courses are held in Georgetown and come in various formats: face-to-face, online and hybrid.  Small classes provide the opportunity for individualized instruction.

Anyone interested in applying for admission to the program or just interested in getting more information is encouraged to contact Dr. Michael Owens, director of extended learning at Sussex Technical School District, at 302-856-9035 or mowens@sussexvt.k12.de.us.
