February 13, 2014

Kevin Kelly, president of Leon N. Weiner and Associates in Wilmington, was recently elected and installed as the 2014 chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Home Builders. The event occurred at NAHB’s Board Meeting in Las Vegas, Nev.

Kelly has long been a builder and developer of both single-family and multifamily homes in Wilmington and several mid-Atlantic states. He served as president of the Home Builders Association of Delaware in 1998 and 1999. He was selected by his peers as Builder of the Year in 1998 and was the recipient of the HBADE President’s Distinguished Service Award for his career contributions in 2008. He is an HBADE Life Director and has contributed much time, attention and commitment to local housing topics and issues for many years, and has served on many committees.

The NAHB is a trade association of more than 140,000 member firms striving to serve, promote and improve the national housing and shelter needs of this country and its citizens. Prior to becoming an officer at NAHB, Kelly served more than 20 years on its board of directors, presided over various committees, and has been an eloquent advocate and spokesman in testimony before the U.S. House and Senate, in addition to the Delaware General Assembly.

Kelly attains the distinguished honor of being the second Delawarean to rise to be chairman/president of NAHB. The first and only other was his partner and friend, the late Leon Weiner.
