Wescoat Scholarship Fund opens application process

Filing deadline is April 21
February 17, 2014

Members of the Cape Henlopen High School graduating class of 2014 and former graduates who wish to be considered for financial aid from the Wescoat Scholarship Fund are invited to secure applications forms from the Cape Henlopen High School Guidance Office.

Completed applications forms should be mailed to the Wescoat Memorial Scholarship fund, PO Box 464, Lewes, DE 19958. This year’s deadline for the filing of applications is noon, Monday, April 21.

The will of the late Mrs. Louise Wescoat l’Hommedieu of Lewes states that the committee to administer the fund will be composed of the rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Lewes, the superintendent of schools of the local district and the mayor of Lewes.

This will be the 39th year the fund will benefit college-bound students from Cape Henlopen High School. The awards are available to worthy and needy graduates of the high school, but not necessarily to those graduates who have attained the highest scholastic rating during their high school experience. Those who can benefit are individuals who plan to attend accredited colleges or universities in the United States.

To date it has been possible for the committee to provide 215 scholarships, each in the amount of at least $200. The number and amount of the scholarships are dependent upon the cash balance in the fund.
