24th Rehoboth Chocolate Festival set March 1

February 16, 2014

The 24th Annual Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, March 1, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. There are seven categories in the contest: cookies, brownies, pies, cheesecakes, candy, cake and most unusual. In addition to sampling decadent chocolate, guests can visit with various vendors and enjoy children’s crafts.

Admission tickets are $5 (includes five tastes) at the door or they can be purchased in advance at the Rehoboth Beach Main Street office, Azura Clothing, Snyder’s Candy, or The Boardwalk Plaza Hotel. Children under 5 are free. This event is brought to the public by Rehoboth Beach Main Street and The Friends of the Rehoboth Public Library.

Entry Rules

All ages are welcome to enter a chocolate masterpiece in the festival on Saturday morning at no cost. All entries must be received at the convention center between 7 and 8:30 a.m.  Last year, more than 200 restaurateurs, chefs, professional and amateur bakers - including bakers under 12 - entered the contest. Entries received after the 8:30 a.m. deadline cannot be judged but are welcome and appreciated as part of the taste samples.

Judging will begin at 9:15 a.m., and winners will be announced prior to the opening to the public at 11:30 a.m. Winners will receive prizes and ribbons.

Go to www.downtownrehoboth.com to download an entry form to submit a chocolate delight. Contestants may also fill out entry forms on the morning of the event.
