Delaware Hospice leads Valentines for Vets initiative during February

Delaware Hospice invites members of the community to join in donating items for a Valentines Gift Bag to present to veterans at the Delaware Veterans Home and the Home of the Brave in Milford.

The Valentines Gift Bag drive will take place until Friday, Feb. 28, and the gift bags will be presented to veterans March 7.

Items needed include large-print books, large-print puzzle books, large-print jigsaw puzzles, disposable cameras, long-distance phone cards, playing cards, dice, dominoes, music CDs, DVD movies, newspapers, magazines, koozies to keep water bottles and cans cool, iPods, iTunes gift cards, stress relief squeeze balls, Amazon gift cards, board games, calendars, clocks, slippers, pajamas, underwear, combs, drink pouches, ink pens, notepads, puzzle books, Sudoku, heat wraps for sore muscles, white socks, icy hot patches, paperback books, Nintendo Wii, Playstation, Xbox, headphones, ear buds and K-cups.

Several businesses and organizations have agreed to partner in Valentines for Vets by providing a drop-off location. At these locations, there will be a Delaware Hospice collection box and a poster listing the desired items.

Drop-off sites in Milford include  Big Lots, CVS, Milford Chamber of Commerce, the Delaware Hospice Center, the Division of Aging, Walmart, and Walgreens.
