Lewes Farmers Market to host free workshop March 1

At Lavender Fields Farm in Milton
February 18, 2014

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market announced its eighth annual free workshop for farmers and growers from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 1, at Lavender Fields Farm, 18864 Cool Spring Road in Milton. All interested farmers and growers are invited to attend this highly instructive and fun workshop.

The Farmers Market Workshop offers farmers and growers a unique local opportunity to learn about and strengthen their knowledge and skills on successful marketing and to exchange ideas about farming and agriculture. HLFM scholarship participants who attended this year’s Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture conference and the Mid Atlantic Fruit and Vegetable Convention will be on hand to share the techniques and knowledge gained at the conferences.

The workshop is free, but registration by phone or email is required because space is limited, and attendees will need to be notified in case of cancellation due to weather. To register, email historiclewesfarmersmarket@comcast.net or call 302-644-1436.

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market provides a family-friendly, community gathering place for consumers to be able to purchase the freshest local foods available. It also provides alternative educational and marketing opportunities for emerging farmers and others to help create local and sustainable food systems that are environmentally sound, economically viable and socially responsible, and which improve the variety, freshness, nutritional value and distribution of fresh farmland foods to the community.
