Robert 'Bob' Welsh, avid outdoorsman

Robert "Bob" K. Welsh, 79, of Millsboro, formerly of Lester Pa., passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014.

Bob was a union machinist with IAM and retired from the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman, Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Eagles, a gifted artist, and self-taught musician.  He loved to spend time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, telling stories and singing songs. He was also known for his antics displayed in many pranks still legendary among friends and family.

Robert was predeceased by his beloved son Robert Carl Welsh; his parents Gladys and Robert Welsh; his brother Harold Morris; sister Delores Goertz; and his faithful companion Sadie.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Lillian (Powley) Welsh; his daughters Mindy Welsh and Cheryl Perrine; son-in-law Bill Perrine; and daughter-in-law Carolyn Welsh-Rowley.  He is also survived by grandchildren Bobby (Liz), Katie, Dylan (Regina) Welsh, Kelli (Ray) Troyer, Valerie Perrine, and Jake Welsh; and great-grandchildren Ellie, Hayley, Hayden, and Blake.  He is also survived by his brother Jim (Adaline) Welsh; sister Kay (Mike) Naceyl and hosts of nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m., at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road in Millsboro, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Burial will be private.
