Remember Ian Usher, the guy who put his entire life up for sale on eBay in 2008, and went on to challenge himself with a “bucket list” of 100 goals in 100 weeks? He sold the film rights for his unique story to Walt Disney Pictures and with the proceeds bought himself a small private Caribbean island in the Bocas del Toro region of Panama, Central America.
Nestled amongst the mangroves, and 20 minutes by boat to the nearest town, Ian has transformed an uninhabited, overgrown island into his own Caribbean paradise complete with a house, boat dock and brood of free range hens.
He met Vanessa for just a few hours on a trip to London in April 2013, after which they cultivated an “online” relationship, until she took the plunge in July to visit for a short holiday. She never returned, turning her back on her London life and job to live with Ian in wild isolation.
